Apple and Google add alerts for unknown Bluetooth trackers to iOS, Android

In a collaborative effort to address concerns about the potential misuse of Bluetooth tracking devices, Apple and Google have introduced a new feature designed to alert users when they are being tracked unknowingly. The "Detecting Unwanted Location Trackers" feature, now rolling out on iOS 17.5 and Android 6.0+ devices, aims to enhance user privacy and safety by identifying and notifying users of suspicious Bluetooth tracking activity.

The new feature, implemented through software updates, will trigger alerts on both iOS and Android devices when an unknown Bluetooth tracking device travels with the user for an extended period. iPhones will display a notification stating “[Item] Found Moving With You,” while Android devices will show “Tracker traveling with you.”
